a multiples mommy in a singleton world....

Ok, I need to VENT! I find that almost always I am faced with dilemma after dilemma regarding activities to attend with my little one's. Almost EVERYTHING is geared towards a mommy of a single baby! Oh I'd love to get them swim lessons at the local pool but you need to have a parent per child, or take them to gymboree sessions, etc. It is always the same story, You need to either have a "helper"(what is that?? LOL!), or pay EXTRA because God gave me 4 babies to love. The latest activity I would LOVE to participate in is the "Mommy, Daddy & Me" class at our local Rec Center. They have a resident & non resident fee to attend the class, which they should. The resident fee listed is $80.00. I call them up just to make sure what the cost for us would be & they say it is PER child. What were they thinking?? I explain that I have quadruplets and they are 19 months old, etc. I ask is it $80.00 for each of them? She says Yes without hesitation. Needless to say I was flabbergasted! They expect me to pay $320.00 for my four to attend an 8 week session, that only meets 1x a week. I decided to put a call in to the Director of the Center just to see if he agrees some families are different & if they could work with me on the fee. I have yet to hear back from him. Trust me, I ALWAYS ask if there is a discount when you have multiples or a sibling. I have found a few businesses that will accomodate us but in this case they would not. I swear the world just does not think about families with multiples. This is why I have taken being a multiple mommy so seriously! It is now my "mission" to make sure we are all treated equally & fairly! There should be some exceptions when you are ...

Amen girlfriend! Being part of a "Mothers of Multiples" group does help because there is safety or should I call it strength in numbers. It is one way my kids will get to enjoy a somewhat "normal" life. I just found your blog...your kiddos are adorable!

Thank you EVERYONE! I have an update.. I spoke with their Director & he said I stumped them. They have never been approached by a mom like me!! So they have been in deep discussion on what to do for us!! YAY!! I am also going to query other Rec Centers to see what they would do if they had a multiples mom attending activities & give him that info as well! Thanks for the support!!!!

I completly agree with all of you guys. I have Triplets plus One and it just gets quiet expensive when you are signing them up for stuff. I just signed all 3 of the boys for football. Luckily they give one $25 discount for siblings which is better than nothing. But between the football for the boys and dance for my daughter. I think my hubby needs to get another job or I need to work just to pay for all of it. But I want them to be able to do everything that they want to do. Keep up the good fight and let everyone know what happens.

another new quad mom to your blog :)

hope you find a solution soon! i would think they could give you a deal on the kids, at least like "buy 2 get 2 free." doesn't that sound funny? :) i've seen that with other places, where you pay full price for the 1st then pay a discounted price for any additional kids.

it would be great for your kids to get into some class! our boy enjoyed the kindermusik and some swim classes at our local city pool.

good luck!

I only have twins but I find the same thing and I know that two is a little easier :D than four!

Thanks for stopping by, I too had three rounds of IVF and really thinking that was the worse of our tries and finally, when we least expected it and were almost completely beaten, a miracle.

I love reading all the triplet and quad blogs I can find, you mommies amaze me and remind me that it's all so very worth it!
