"mommy meter"...

We have been swimming a TON lately & with absolutely NO swimmies! WOO HOO! Being it's the summer & extremely  HOT outside our pool tends to be EXTRA warm. Some days it feels good but most days it's like swimming in a liquid SAUNA! UGH! Another issue is when it rains the pool tends to cool off pretty quick. It must have rained a bunch over the past few days because it was MUCH cooler than expected when we jumped in today. It was really funny because the tribe must be SO used to it being warm that they all felt the need to tell me how COLD it was today! SO cold that I decided to see exactly what the temperature really was. Good 'ol Brendan must have seen me searching around the pool for our pool thermometer because the next thing I hear is him saying "Here it is Mommy!", Here's the...

Buddy...

Funny how just one year can change SO much! These children of ours have grown so much in the past year, not only in height but also in vocabulary. The say SO much! The things that come out of their mouths! YIKES! Makes me bite my tongue on quite a few occasions for fear they will repeat me! LOL! One of the words that has stuck has been Linz's nickname for Brendan. She does not call him Brendan or Brendy, but calls him "Buddy". It is SO cute seeing how she interacts with him & shows him her affection. Just yesterday she held him in her arms & rubbed the hair on his head and neck. You know how soft & fuzzy the hair is after a buzz cut, well she ran her fingers across the back of his neck & he just giggled. He is by far our most ticklish child! He loved every moment of the attention she gave him! SO SO cute! Maybe they will continue that bond once school starts & be the twosome that stays together in their first classroom. You know I will NOT be splitting them up if I don't have to! Oh to be two and not have a care in the world! (= These children definitely give us more joy than we even realize. Lately my smiles have come from watching Linz and her...

motorsuckers...

It seems that lately these children of ours have had some growth spurts in the brain dept! The words that have been coming out of their mouths! WOW! I especially noticed this after we got back from our trip. They have a wider vocabulary than they did before we left. I guess that had to do with their new enviorments. They had more people & things around them. I know that they are children & not animals BUT it is still amazing how they are learning even when we are not "teaching" them. Those little brains of theirs are like sponges, they just grow & grow & grow! Lately Brendan has taken a liking to motorcyles or as he says it "motorsuckers". VERY cute to listen to his pronunciation! My mom's neighbor Jim was the first to really pay attention to how he said it. Thinking he was calling him a "sucker". Then we all laughed when we realized he was saying motorcycle. The funny things that kids say! When he is being razzed by his sisters I will bring out a motorcycle & it seems to solve everything in his eyes. At least this is what I thought until he started having a favorite one. If I did not have the small white Hess motorcycle he wanted no part of me! It is part of a set that I think Dustyn got it as a gift from my Dad years ago. You know the yearly set that Hess puts out before Christmas well we have them all. It was sort of my Dad's thing. Dustyn LOVES trucks & stuff so my dad bought him a Hess truck each year. Now Brendan will have his own collection. However instead of trucks it may just end up being a collection of...

THEIR dictionary, 1st edition...

Lately our foursome have been saying some, shall I say, "interesting" words. They have their own lingo, sort of like words out of a "new" dictionary. The way they pronounce things just cracks me up! I have to have them repeat themselves a few times until I get what they are saying. Is this normal!? I have to remember that they are just 2 and they will be talking up a storm soon. Uh Oh! I knew I needed to jot these down for posterity! There's "Bup" for cup, "Bee" for Boy, yet "Bee Bee" is Birdie and "Bee Bob" is Uncle Bob, TOO weird! "Duhl" for Girl, "Lee Lee" for Linz, "Lu Lu" for Lauren, "Nah No" for Piano. (Grandma has a piano that they get to play each day! Now you know why I have invested in ear plugs! LOL!) The other interesting thing I have noticed is that some words they can pronounce perfectly. Why does that work that way? Remember this is my first crack at this 24/7 parenting thing. Dustyn was 5 when I entered the picture & before that I just had nieces & nephews to play with but they went home every night. hahah! These amazing creatures are our CHILDREN, little sponges remembering EVERYTHING we do! You laugh but when they do something AMAZING in my eyes I have to remind myself that it only gets better! They will grow up, be law abiding citizens & remember EVERYTHING Michael & I taught them, SCARY! So each day when they say a new word out of their "dictionary" I write it down while I just chuckle to myself. What words am I going to hear next?! These kiddo's and...

Use YOUR words!

I must have been in denial these past few months. These children of mine are definately getting into their terrible 2's, I just know it! They do ANYTHING & EVERYTHING that they are not suppose to! They climb up on tables, throw things, especially food, and have MANY temper tantrums over silly things. What I mean to say is that I think they should save a temper tantrum for something good! Something worthwhile! Nope, they get upset over trivial things. Someone could get in front of them on their way outside they cry or better yet if someone else throws the diaper away that I asked them to they will get SO upset! Then there is no consoling them! They just have to live it & work it out on their own. I just hate it! I SO want them to use their words! Explain what they mean instead of whining. I constantly tell them "Use your words!", hoping they will say what it is instead of whining about it. I guess that is what I dislike about the infancy stage, that they cannot communicate with us as well. Hopefully soon I can stop saying...
